Mission statement

The mission of the annual and international open water swimming competition is to foster passion for aquatic disciplines, promoting the official distances of 8.5K and 3K with and without fins in the beautiful resort of Colán. Through this event, we seek to highlight the rich culture and tradition of the area, as well as contribute to the preservation of local flora and fauna. In addition, we aspire to provide a unique experience to participants and position the province as an outstanding venue for international championships and competitions.

Vision statement

Convert this annual and international open water swimming competition in the Colán resort into a world benchmark of sporting excellence and marine conservation. We seek to inspire swimmers from all over the world to challenge themselves, while promoting environmental awareness and the preservation of marine ecosystems. Through innovation in aquatics and commitment to sustainability, we aim to establish a lasting legacy that strengthens the connection between the global community and the natural wonders of Colán.

Objetives

1. Promote Sports Practice: Encourage participation in the annual open water swimming competition as a platform for the promotion of physical activity and health, attracting swimmers from various parts of the world.

2. Environmental Conservation: Raise awareness and promote marine conservation initiatives, highlighting the rich marine flora and fauna of Colán, promoting its preservation and care during the competition, as it enriches the experience of participants, tourists and spectators.

3. Position Colan Internationally: Establish Colan as a reference destination for international open water swimming championships and contests, contributing to the tourism and sports development of the province. Generating a positive impact on the local economy.

4. Innovation in the Aquatic Discipline: Promote aquatic sport, including safe and
innovative categories and challenges, providing new ways to make the competition more exciting and challenging for participants.

5. Promotion of Social Inclusion: Ensure the participation of people of diverse ages, abilities, socioeconomic backgrounds and nationalities with the aim of creating an event where diversity is celebrated and everyone has the opportunity to freely enjoy and participate in the swimming competition.

6. Community Development: Collaborate closely with the local community, involving residents, businesses and companies in the organization of the event, generating economic opportunities and strengthening community ties.

7. Education and Awareness: Implement educational programs for swimmers and the community in general about the importance of marine conservation, promoting responsible and sustainable practices.

8. Establish a Lasting Legacy: Build a legacy that transcends competition, leaving behind improved facilities, sports development programs and a continued commitment to sustainability in the Colán region.
